Nextwave Multimedia bags first prize in ‘Nokia’s 2010 Calling All Innovators’ Contest

We are delighted to announce that Nextwave Multimedia’s ‘Comics Creator’ has won the first prize in ‘Nokia’s 2010 Calling All Innovators’ contest in the Entertainment Category. The winners and runner-ups were declared on 15 September, 2010 at the ‘Nokia Developer Summit 2010’ held in London.

‘Nokia’s Calling All Innovators’ is a global app development contest presenting developers with the task of creating apps that make a difference in people’s everyday lives, and enhance the use of Nokia mobile devices in real-world scenarios.

For its third consecutive year, Nokia challenged developers worldwide to create mobile apps in any of four categories: Life Improvement, Eco/Being Green, Productivity and Entertainment.

More than 1,500 developers from all over the world responded to Nokia’s challenges. In all, Nokia received over 7,700 submissions.

The winners and finalists were adjudged based on the following criteria: Quality/Functionality, Uniqueness, Novelty Value and Innovativeness, Usability/Creativity, and Commercial Viability/Market Potential.

All the shortlisted developers were invited to London for the ‘Nokia Developer Summit 2010.’ The grand event saw some big-name guest speakers, including Sir Tim Berners-Lee, inventor of the World Wide Web.

‘Comics Creator’ is an easy-to-use mobile application that allows you to create your own comics, cartoon strips, photo journals, etc — even if you’re not an artist. With this application, you can turn your ideas into a comic format that you like, and share it with your friends.
